Feel Connected
Students always tell me that one of the most important parts of an "in-person" class is their experience with the other students in the classroom. It's not just about the techniques, the immersion with their craft, and the teacher. It's the interaction with their fellow classmates.
The Creative Color Class uses several internet-based platforms to help you CONNECT with the other class members.
In our Zoom Meetings, we talk with each other. We don't just watch a demonstration.
On our Blog, we use our questions about intention and discovery to understand each other's point of view.
We share ourselves as we share our process.

"Once you have your own basic equipment and some experience, then the online classes work well. Whereas you may only have a few hours to practice a concept when doing a 5-day in-person class, the online class gives you a full week to more fully explore the topic of the week’s lesson. Posting your work online for others in the class to see is a great way to get feedback from the other students (as well as from Ricky, of course). We share not only our successes, but also share the pieces that didn’t work out at all as we expected. Often, someone else would see some small area that they liked while I was ready to throw the piece away."

"It took me a couple weeks to get comfortable with the online class but it made me work through and develop some confidence that I didn't need anyone standing next to me to help me or make corrections.
This was one of the most unique classes I've ever taken, one of the most challenging, and one where I've made the most artistic advancement."
- Candie P.
"The on-line workshop has many advantages too. I liked the time in between classes to experiment and play. After an in-person workshop, it is sometimes hard to remember this or that a week after you saw it, so that it becomes more of an event than part of a longer process."
- Cathie H.
"To some extent taking a course online gives you more control over your own time, with respect to watching the how to videos. If done right, it can be more concise than the in person experience, because you waste less time waiting for students to gather and watch a demonstration. And it is much easier to see demos online, rather than trying to look over the shoulder of that one person who always gets the position standing right in front of the teacher. Ricky has an impressive video set up, with good audio and visuals." -Sara P
