• This is not a "jewelry-making class but some basic bezel fabrication will be covered

Create your Series

• Use a series to explore an idea in different but similar ways
• Change elements to change the stories
• Change the point of view
• Explore color schemes
• Interpret and idea using different formats
• Practice & master your techniques
  

Class #3 Modules

Each module includes visual thinking & enamel exercises
Each lesson is broken down into small, simple steps that gradually improve your skills.
You do not need to be able to draw!
Some metal smith experience is helpful but not required

Module 1: Introduction

• Brainstorm to jump start your Creativity
• Change your Questions
• Permission to Fail: Make BAD artwork as a "point of departure"
• Understand "Layer Architecture"
• Let Go of self-limiting rules & beliefs
• Learn to create your "personal tutorials
  
• Practice the 5 C's + Commit!
  

Module 2: Refine your image/story

• Add or subtract elements to add interest or to simplify
• Solve Contrast issues
• Consider different Cloisonne´ wire options
• How much or little "light" do you want?
• Consider balancing "loud" and quiet" areas
• Do you always need wires?  Color "outside of the lines"
  
• Edit & Refine your Icons, Silhouettes, and Symbols
  

Module 3: Surface Finishes

• Grinding your enamel surface
• Polishing your enamel surface
• Foil surfaces
• Combine different surface finishes
• Concave enamel surface and Flux surfaces

Module 4: Settings

• Learn a simple approach to Bezel settings
• Explore alternative settings
• Create Borders for your settings
• Play with Gemstones
  
• Combine inner and outer design elements

Module 5: Assemblages

• Combine two or more enamel pieces
  
• Build an Icon or Silhouette with multiple enamel pieces
  
• Layer a stone or enamel over an enamel piece
  
• Bracelets and Neck Pieces
  
• Combine metal and enamel imagery
  

Module 6: Create a Series

• Ask "What if" questions to generate alternative images
  
• Change Color Schemes
  
• Create or use other Personal Symbols
  
• Change the Shape of your Enamel Canvas
  
• Simplify and create a production line
  

Module 7: Put it all together!

• Play with your new vocabulary see what is possible
  
• Begin to focus on "Liking what you make"
• Learn to dialogue with your artwork
• Evaluate with questions beyond "Do I like it?"
