2017 Enamel on Argentium Workshop Info
Here is a PDF handout for you to download. Please print the Argentium Workshop Handouts PDF and bring it along to our workshop. See download link below. The "all lump colors" pdf is a color chart of colors i try to keep in stock for sale to students. I don't always have all of them.
I've also thrown in some links to some videos. The cloisonne one is long but will give you a good understanding of blending and layering transparent colors, which we will be doing in class.
Tools List for Class:
Here is a tool/supply list: some are metalworking tools, some are enameling tools. please don't go out and buy anything (other than maybe some argentium sheet) for our class.
1. pliers: flat nose and round
2. flush nippers, joyce chen scissors
3. flat/half round files
4. small steel blocks
5. mandrels: like a ring mandrel
1. watercolor style brushes: 00, 1. can be natural or synthetic. I will have some good ones for sale if you don't have any
3. small scissors
2. 4B or 6B black pencil
3. print out of handouts.
Materials: You need to bring this or contact me to let me know to bring them for you.
We will be working on 22 gauge Argentium Silver. We will make...
1. samples, minimum of 6 pieces per student. approximately 1 inch square pieces each
2. jewelry piece: one piece, approximately 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch
if you want to have more sample pieces or more pieces for jewelry piece, that is fine. I will have some extra pieces available for purchase. If you want me to provide these for you you need to email me asap.
Mortar & Pestle Info: the links are for a mortar which is 75 mm across. Mine is 100 mm across. The prices on this slightly smaller one are much more reasonable. i've been told that the links to these lead to a business which only sells to businesses. You can google these to find other sources. Look for Coorstek octagonal Alumina Oxide Mortar and Pestle.
If you think you are going to want to purchase a JoolTool at the workshop please email me so I can have it in stock. Prices are 10% off for students. I use the Ricky Frank Enamel Kit and add on a few extra diamond abrasives to make the progression very easy to achieve a great finish.
