2018 Spring & Summer Workshop Info
Here are some PDF handouts for you to download. The most important ones are the first 6. We will be using leaded vintage Thompson enamel and Ninomaya (Japanese) enamels from lump form. You will learn how to use a mortar and pestle to grind your enamels to the desired size. Included here are links to the very expensive Alumina Oxide ones we'll use in class. You don't need these, and inexpensive porcelain ones will work too. But some students ask where to get them so i've included the info here for you. We will be using the jooltool to grind and polish our enamels. I'll have two for classroom use. It's a very short learning curves and all of my students have loved using it and had great success with it.
Mortar & Pestle Info: the links are for a mortar which is 75 mm across. Mine is 100 mm across. The prices on this slightly smaller one are much more reasonable. i've been told that the links to these lead to a business which only sells to businesses.
If you think you are going to want to purchase a JoolTool at the workshop please email me so I can have it in stock. Prices are 10% off for students. I use the Ricky Frank Enamel Kit and add on a few extra diamond abrasives to make the progression very easy to achieve a great finish.
