FAQ about the Weekly Assignments
Question: What are the Weekly Assignments?
Answer: Each week I present tutorials. After watching them, the assignment is to "create your own" tutorial, based on what you learned and what YOUR questions are. I showed you how "I taught myself". Now, show us how you "teach yourself".
Question: What do I do after I have done a tutorial?
Answer: Decide how you want to keep a record of your tutorial. There is no right way, but keep in mind that everything that you do and all of the questions that you ask yourself may be worth remembering. Chances are that you will forget much of this in the future if you don't write this down. Your tutorials may also inspire you in the future to explore old questions or ask yourself new questions.
Question: Must I do ALL of the tutorials/assignments each week?
Answer: No, do whatever you can do or want to do. Everyone will have different amounts of time available each week.
Question: Do I need to use the same colors that you used in the tutorials?
Answer: No, not at all. Use whatever type of enamel and color of enamel that you have or like. Or maybe even ones that you "don't like" so that your tutorial becomes more about learning than about "liking the result".
Question: What happens if I fall behind?
Answer:Try not to compare yourself to any of the other students. Some have taken the course previously, have different amounts of experience, work faster or slower than others, or have different amounts of time available. Students who give less thought to their questions and more energy to "completing the assignments, as though it is homework in school", will do more and learn less.
Question: What do I do if I am stuck?
Answer: You have many choices. You can be patient and try to figure it out on your own. You can post a question on our forum. You can wait until a Zoom class and ask your question there. You can email me. Or if you really feel some panic, you can call me at 770-552-7890. My advice is to ask yourself: What will Ricky suggest that I do?". If that gives you an answer or set of possible answers, then try one or more of them. Sometimes you learn more (or different) if you discover a new approach!
Question: Where can I get tools or materials?
Answer:Your can post a question on our forum. I am always available by email to help you figure this out, and I do have some tools/materials available for sale. I will gladly refer you to other sources and other students often share their resources on our forum.
