My Newest Cloisonne´ Enamel Jewelry
Here is a peek into my process.
Earlier this year, I decided that I wanted to begin making an Artistic Change. I did not have a predetermined idea of what I wanted and simply began creating what I call a "new vocabulary". These are the different types of "visual marks" that I can make and which are possible with the different enameling materials that I use: wires, enamel color layers, and silver/gold foil. As I played, experimented, and asked myself new and different questions, I saw an unexpected change begin to occur. I began to deconstruct some of my older enamel images and treat the smaller parts as distinct elements. I made some "thumbnail sketches"and then started to translate the new sketches into not only new enamel elements but a new metal/gemstone language as well.
