Artist Statement
I've never really seen myself as an artist...I'm just a person
who loves enamel and enameling.I enjoy the small, intimate
scale entailed in making a piece of cloisonné, and integrating
it with precious metals and gemstones to become a piece of
jewelry feels like the perfect way to complete the piece.
That a customer might be touched by the passion that I've put
into this miniature work of art, and want to wear it, is an added bonus.

Enamel is a magical medium; the fusion of glass on metal creates
a dance of light within the piece. When I look at an enamel,
I feel as though I am snorkeling on a tropical reef, swimming
through the water. While creating an enamel, I lose myself in
the many layers of color, textures, flowing lines, and light
seeming to emanate from within the piece.

My imagery flows back and forth between narrative and abstract.
The structured side of me wants to tell stories about personal growth
and inner conflict; my fluid side wants to explore and play. I try
to find a happy balance between the two. I want my jewelry
to be affirmations: quality does exist; there is hope and beauty
in the world; people can overcome challenges; and life is
a balancing act to be embraced.
